Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers are currently investigating a shooting that occurred Thursday evening at the Boca Park shopping center in the west valley.
According to police reports, officers were in the 700 block of South Rampart Boulevard around 5:30 p.m., conducting a follow-up on a wanted individual, when they heard a gunshot nearby.
Upon searching the area, officers discovered a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel were promptly called to the scene to provide assistance.
As of 7:30 p.m., authorities confirmed that the injured individual had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The parking lot at Boca Park was temporarily closed to facilitate the investigation, but surrounding roads reopened around 6 p.m.
In recent months, the west valley area has experienced several incidents of violence. Notably, on November 13, 2025, a casino in the 200 block of Rampart Boulevard was robbed at gunpoint. The suspect, described as wearing a ballistic helmet and armed with an AR-style rifle, remains at large.
Additionally, on December 2, 2025, a man was found shot in the front yard of a house in the 400 block of South 15th Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
