Peace Way Bridge Over 215 Beltway in Summerlin Opens, Enhancing Community Connectivity |
New Infrastructure Project Completes After Yearlong Construction, Improving Traffic Flow and Accessibility |
The much-anticipated Peace Way bridge over the 215 Beltway in Summerlin is set to open this Thursday at 6 a.m., following a year of dedicated construction efforts. The opening ceremony will feature a ribbon-cutting event, as announced by Clark County officials on Tuesday.
Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones expressed enthusiasm about the project's completion, stating, "Today we celebrate connecting communities and helping citizens navigate the neighborhood. Whether you're driving a car, riding your bike, or traveling on foot, this bridge, along with the other roadway improvements we've made, will make getting around this area much easier."
The $19.8 million project commenced in June 2024 and involved significant infrastructure enhancements. These included the construction of the Peace Way bridge, which now links Fort Apache Road west of the Beltway to Chessie Court east of the 215. Additionally, Peace Way underwent improvements between Hualapai Way and Cimarron Road, featuring the installation of new traffic signals at the intersection of Hualapai and Peace Way.
Throughout the construction period, residents experienced lane restrictions and periodic full closures of the Beltway to facilitate the bridge's development. The project's completion is expected to alleviate previous traffic bottlenecks and provide a more seamless travel experience for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.
In tandem with this infrastructure advancement, Summerlin continues to witness substantial growth and development. The community recently celebrated the opening of several new neighborhoods, including Quail Cove and Alton by KB Home, Monument and Ascension by Pulte Homes, Lark Hill by Taylor Morrison, and Edgewood by Tri Pointe Homes. These additions contribute to the diverse housing options available in the area.
Moreover, Downtown Summerlin has expanded its retail offerings with the introduction of new brands such as LEGO, Michael's, Ethel M Chocolates, and Rowan. The highly anticipated Whole Foods Market, anchoring a new 7.4-acre retail center at the corner of Sahara Avenue and Town Center Drive, is now open, providing residents with enhanced shopping and dining experiences.
These developments underscore Summerlin's commitment to fostering a vibrant, connected, and thriving community for its residents. |
