The New Vista Wine Walk at Downtown Summerlin returns Saturday, September 26 at 7 PM, bringing one of Las Vegas’ longtime wine traditions right here to the West Valley.

And this isn’t a “sit politely at a table and pretend you know what tannins are” kind of wine tasting.

You’ll be walking, sipping, socializing and making your way through at least 18 wine tasting stations featuring a mix of reds and whites.

Basically, cardio…but make it Cabernet.

What Is the New Vista Wine Walk?

New Vista’s Wine Walks have been a Las Vegas favorite since 2004, giving locals a chance to spend an evening exploring different wines while supporting an organization doing important work in Southern Nevada.

This particular Wine Walk takes place at Downtown Summerlin, making it especially convenient for those of us on the west side who appreciate a fun Vegas night that doesn’t require driving anywhere near the Strip.

Guests check in and receive souvenir glassware and a tasting card with a map showing the tasting locations.

Then you’re off.

Sip. Stroll. Talk. Repeat.

And perhaps discover that the wine you chose solely because the label was pretty is actually your favorite.

No judgment here.

The Best Part? Your Wine Is Actually Doing Some Good

Here’s where this event becomes more than just another Saturday night out in Las Vegas.

100% of the proceeds benefit New Vista, a local nonprofit that has served Southern Nevada for approximately 40 years.

New Vista’s mission focuses on providing people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities and supported living arrangements that help them experience life as fully and independently as possible.

So yes, you’re going out for wine.

But you’re also helping support a longtime Las Vegas organization while you’re doing it.

We’ll drink to that. 

How Much Wine Are We Talking About?

General admission guests receive at least 18 one ounce wine tastings throughout the event.

EIGHTEEN.

Suddenly the organizers encouraging ride sharing makes a whole lot of sense. 

VIP guests receive an additional 10 premium tastings.

According to the event information, most guests take approximately 90 minutes to two hours to make their way through all of the tasting stations, although the event itself is listed as approximately three hours.

Translation: this isn’t a race.

Grab your friends, wear comfortable shoes and enjoy Downtown Summerlin along the way.

How Much Are Tickets?

General admission tickets are $50 in advance and increase to $60 on the day of the event.

The event also offers sponsorship opportunities for local businesses that want to get their brands in front of attendees while supporting New Vista.

One important thing to know before you start organizing the group chat:

Wine Walk ticket holders must be 21 or older.

IDs are checked before entry, and ticket holders will be wristbanded or stamped.

So yes, your 20 year old cousin who says, “But I turn 21 in two months…” is still going to have to sit this one out.

Where Does the Downtown Summerlin Wine Walk Start?

Registration begins on Festival Plaza Drive in the center of The Pavilion near Banana Republic and Baby Gap.

There are plenty of parking lots and parking garages around Downtown Summerlin, but organizers encourage carpooling, public transportation and ride shares because well, 18 wine samples.

We’re going to second that recommendation.

Uber exists for nights exactly like this.

And Apparently Your Dog Can Join the Fun

This may be one of our favorite details.

New Vista describes its Wine Walks as a Saturday night out for friends, families and even your dog.

So apparently your four legged best friend can come stroll Downtown Summerlin while silently judging your wine selections.

Honestly, that’s very Summerlin.

Just remember that the wine tasting portion itself is strictly 21+ for humans.

Your Labrador is also not getting a Pinot.

We shouldn’t have to say that, but this is Vegas.

What If the Weather Doesn’t Cooperate?

The event is scheduled to happen rain or shine, and ticket sales are final.

Considering we’re talking about Las Vegas in September, rain may be the least of our concerns.

Our recommendation?

Comfortable shoes.

Water.

And maybe don’t arrive wearing the pair of heels you bought because they looked amazing while you were standing completely still in your bedroom.

Why We’re Putting This One on the West Valley Calendar

There are plenty of things to do in Las Vegas, but sometimes the best nights aren’t on the Strip.

Downtown Summerlin has become one of the West Valley’s go to spots for shopping, restaurants, community events and those nights when you say you’re “just going out for an hour” and somehow return home four hours later carrying a shopping bag.

The New Vista Wine Walk checks a lot of our boxes: it’s local, social, outdoors, supports a Southern Nevada nonprofit and gives us an excuse to get the group chat out of the group chat and into actual public.
