Summerlin Is About to Get a Whole Lot More Yeehaw |
Cowboy boots, live music, free drinks & giveaways. Downtown Summerlin is trading a little bougie for a whole lotta yeehaw. |
Apparently, Downtown Summerlin looked around at the lululemon bags, brunch reservations, Stanley cups and people walking tiny dogs in strollers and thought:
And honestly? We’re here for it.
Westernwear brand Tecovas is officially bringing its boots, hats and Texas sized hospitality to Downtown Summerlin, opening its first permanent Nevada store on July 29.
So if you’ve ever wanted to walk into Trader Joe’s looking like you own 400 acres of land despite the fact that the closest you’ve gotten to ranching is keeping your backyard plants alive through a Vegas summer… this may be your moment.
Nevada, Meet Tecovas
Founded in Texas in 2015, Tecovas has become known for its handcrafted cowboy boots, Western clothing, leather goods and accessories.
The new Downtown Summerlin location will be the brand’s 70th store nationwide and its very first permanent home in Nevada.
Which feels appropriate.
Because if there is anywhere you can wear cowboy boots to breakfast, shorts at Costco, sequins to dinner and somehow nobody questions any of it…
It’s Las Vegas.
And while the store officially opens Wednesday, July 29, Tecovas isn’t quietly unlocking the doors and calling it a day.
Nope.
They’re throwing a full blown grand opening weekend July 31 through August 2 with live music, complimentary drinks, leather personalization and freebies.
Translation: Downtown Summerlin is about to have a little extra yeehaw with its weekend brunch.
Come for the Boots. Stay for the Party.
If you’re going to convince us to voluntarily leave our air conditioned homes during a Las Vegas summer, there had better be refreshments involved.
Tecovas understood the assignment. The grand opening celebration will feature complimentary drinks and live music throughout the weekend.
Acoustic guitarist Kevin Krieg is scheduled to perform Friday from 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Then Las Vegas country artist Michael Braun takes over Saturday from 10 a.m.–1 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.–2 p.m.
Suddenly your Saturday Target run feels terribly underdressed.
Get There Early, Summerlin
Here’s where our competitive Vegas shoppers need to pay attention.
The first 50 customers in the store each day during grand opening weekend will receive a Tecovas gift bag.
FIRST. FIFTY.
We know how this town behaves when somebody says “free.”
We’ve seen Costco sample stations at lunchtime. We’ve witnessed Trader Joe’s parking lots before a holiday. We know what you’re capable of. Plan accordingly. There’s another fun perk happening during the weekend too.
Local artist Susan Houseman will offer complimentary leather typography Saturday from 2–6 p.m. and Sunday from 3–7 p.m.
Which means that new leather purchase can get a little personality instead of sitting in your closet looking exactly like everyone else’s.
This Isn’t Just a Grab a Pair and Go Boot Store
One of the more interesting things about Tecovas is that the company says it wants to make buying cowboy boots feel less intimidating.
Because walking into a traditional Western store when you know absolutely nothing about boots can feel a little like walking into a mechanic and pretending you understand what a catalytic converter does.
Just smile and nod.
Tecovas calls its approach “radical hospitality,” with stores designed to make the boot buying experience more welcoming, polished and personal. And they’ve added some genuinely useful services.
The Downtown Summerlin store will offer complimentary boot shines, personalized leather stamping, boot stretching, and leather and hat branding.
So this isn’t just:
“Here’s your box. Good luck, partner.”
They’re actually trying to make shopping part of the experience.
And considering Downtown Summerlin is already one of those places where we somehow go in for lunch and emerge three hours later carrying four shopping bags…
this could be dangerous.
But Do We Actually Need Cowboy Boots in Vegas?
Need?
That’s a strong word.
Do we need another pair of shoes when there are already approximately 17 pairs sitting by the front door?
Probably not.
But Las Vegas and Western style have always made surprisingly good friends.
Between concerts, rodeos, country bars, festivals and our general willingness to dress for whatever personality we’re feeling that weekend, there are plenty of opportunities to break them out.
Wear them to a concert.
Wear them to dinner at Downtown Summerlin.
Wear them to Red Rock. Okay, maybe don’t hike Red Rock in your brand new fancy cowboy boots. We cannot be held responsible for that decision.
But you get the idea.
And with Tecovas choosing Downtown Summerlin for its first permanent Nevada location, West Valley locals don’t even have to head toward the Strip to check it out.
That’s already a win.
The Details, Partner
Store Opening: Wednesday, July 29
Downtown Summerlin, Las Vegas
Whether you’re a longtime boot person or simply someone who watched three episodes of Yellowstone and suddenly started reconsidering your entire wardrobe, this one’s worth wandering into.
You window shop, listen to some music and grab lunch somewhere in Downtown Summerlin.
Best case scenario?
You leave wearing cowboy boots with absolutely zero intention of ever owning a cow.
And frankly, that’s about as Vegas as it gets. |

First permanent Nevada location and they went with Summerlin over the strip? Bold move but honestly probably the right one for a store like this
my husband laughed when I mentioned this but he also owns three pairs of boots so I don't know who he thinks he's fooling
That Trader Joe's parking lot line before Thanksgiving comment hit way too close to home. I survived it once. ONCE.
70th store nationwide and they picked Summerlin for Nevada's first, not the strip. that's actually a smart call on their part
Radical hospitality is just a fancy way of saying good customer service but honestly that's rare enough these days that I respect it
already texting my sister about this. we've literally needed a reason to get out of the house this weekend
Going Saturday for the complimentary drinks and live music with my sister. If we happen to buy boots too then so be it
I appreciate that they're trying to make the boot buying experience less intimidating. walked into a western store once and felt completely lost
Been wanting cowboy boots for the NFR crowd every December. This is very well timed for my life
the free boot shine service alone is selling me. I have a pair that's been sitting sad in my closet for a year
70th store nationwide and they picked Summerlin for Nevada's first one. Honestly makes sense, this is exactly the demographic for this brand
July 31st is gonna be 110 degrees. standing outside for a gift bag might actually be a medical risk lol
My husband has zero idea he's about to spend $400 on boots this weekend. Thinking of it as an investment really
this is so fun, taking my daughter Saturday. she's been obsessed with western style since forever and now we don't have to drive across town
Michael Braun is actually really good live. Seen him a couple times around town. That Saturday show is gonna be a good time
Michael Braun playing Saturday and Sunday morning is actually a solid lineup for a store opening, not just background noise
Please do NOT wear cowboy boots to Red Rock. I beg you. I've seen people show up to Calico Basin in heels and it's terrifying
wore my Tecovas to the Garth Brooks concert last year and got so many compliments, these boots are worth every penny
Not really my thing but glad it's out here in Summerlin so I don't have to drive to the strip area for stuff anymore. Location is a W
gonna be honest I don't get the cowboy boot trend in Vegas but if people are happy I guess go for it
The leather personalization by Susan Houseman sounds amazing honestly. That's the kind of thing that makes it worth going in person
Susan Houseman doing the leather typography is such a cool touch, personalized leather goods are so much better than plain
Cool but that parking situation at Downtown Summerlin on a weekend is already a nightmare. First 50 customers means people showing up at 7am
great another store to drain my wallet at Downtown Summerlin, that place is basically a money trap with good restaurants
I watched like two episodes of Yellowstone and already have a Pinterest board full of western outfits so yes I will be there opening weekend lol
the Yellowstone comment got me because that is literally exactly what happened to me last winter 😂
Tecovas boots are no joke quality. My buddy got a pair last year and they still look brand new. Good pick Downtown Summerlin
first 50 customers getting gift bags means I'm pulling up at 8am with a lawn chair lol
Finally!! Been ordering from them online forever and having to wait for shipping. Now I can actually try them on before buying!
Omg finally!! I've been ordering from Tecovas online for two years, I can actually try boots on in person now
