Simba already knows how to sit, lie down and come when called. Give him a tennis ball or a squeaky toy, and this five-year-old Las Vegas shelter dog has another reason to get excited about playtime.

He's waiting for a suitable home through The Animal Foundation. His animal ID is A1270566, and his adoption fee is currently listed as waived.

A dog who loves to play

Simba is a male, black-and-white, medium-sized dog weighing approximately 68.6 pounds. His shelter profile says he enjoys chasing tennis balls and tossing squeaky toys around the yard.

Treats also get his attention. The shelter describes him as food-motivated and gentle when taking snacks, including freeze-dried liver and beef jerky. He already understands sit, down and come, giving a future adopter a starting point for continued training and bonding.

These little details make Simba more than a name on an adoption page. They offer a glimpse of the dog someone could spend afternoons playing with, teaching new skills and getting to know.

The kind of home Simba needs

Simba's shelter notes are candid about his challenges. The Animal Foundation says he has been experiencing distress and anxiety in the kennel environment. A calmer home, patience and consistent support could help him settle in.

The shelter also recommends a home without small dogs. Anyone interested should talk with staff about his interactions with other animals, his comfort being left alone and the training or adjustments that may help him feel secure.

His profile is not a promise that every household will be a match. Meeting Simba and asking thoughtful questions is the best way to understand whether you can provide the environment he needs.

If Simba's love of toys, eagerness to learn and need for a quieter home sound like a good fit, start by reading his full shelter profile. Ask the adoption team about his health, daily routine, behavior around other pets and what would make his transition easier.

Not able to adopt? You can still help by sharing his listing with someone in the Las Vegas Valley. Include Simba — A1270566 so they can find him easily.

Somewhere nearby may be the person who loves tennis balls almost as much as Simba does. One share, one question or one visit could help them find each other.
