Floyd Lamb Park Offers Free Entry October 30: What Families Should Know |
Explore lakeside paths, wildlife and Tule Springs Ranch during the city's free-entry day. |

Looking for an easy outdoor outing before Halloween weekend? Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs is offering free entry on Friday, October 30, 2026, according to the City of Las Vegas.
Families can explore the park's lakes, walking paths, and historic ranch surroundings without the usual $6-per-vehicle admission charge.
For Summerlin and west Las Vegas residents, it's a chance to plan an inexpensive day outdoors. The 680-acre park northwest of the city combines waterside scenery, wildlife, and recreational areas, so visitors can keep the outing simple or spend several hours exploring.
October 30 free entry: Quick Facts
The city lists October 30 among its 2026 free-entry dates. That means visitors can skip the usual park vehicle fee, but it does not automatically waive charges for reserved picnic facilities, special activities, or other permits. Check separately if your plans involve a group gathering.
What can families do at Floyd Lamb Park?
The park's lakes and walking paths are the most straightforward place to begin. A short walk can be enough for families with younger children, while visitors who want more exercise can explore additional paths at their own pace. The landscape offers a change from shopping centers and neighborhood streets without requiring a long-distance trip.
According to the city's amenities list, Floyd Lamb Park also has jogging routes, horse trails, mountain-bike trails, a BMX pump track, and a volleyball court. Those options make the park useful for different ages and interests, though families should choose routes and activities that match their experience and equipment.
Visitors with specific mobility or accessibility needs should contact the park about suitable routes and facilities. A published list of amenities does not guarantee that every trail has the same surface, grade, or level of access.
Picnics and the historic Tule Springs Ranch
Floyd Lamb Park includes picnic areas, barbecue grills, restrooms, and open space. A picnic can turn a short visit into a relaxed afternoon, especially for families who want time outdoors without committing to a structured event. Some facilities are reservable, so larger groups should ask about booking requirements before arriving.
The historic Tule Springs Ranch gives the visit an educational angle. The ranch setting reflects working-ranch life and early Las Vegas history, and the city notes opportunities for self-guided exploration. Families interested in local history can make this part of the outing rather than focusing only on the lakes. |

Fishing and wildlife: Know the rules
Fishing is allowed in the park's ponds, but the city says anglers need a license from the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The October 30 free-entry date does not mean fishing-license rules are suspended. The city separately lists a June free-fishing day, which should not be confused with this October admission offer.
Wildlife watching is another reason to visit. Birds and other animals may be visible near the water or in landscaped areas, although sightings are never guaranteed. The city specifically asks visitors not to feed wildlife. Observing animals from a distance protects both the animals and the experience for other park guests.
Parents can turn the walk into a simple nature activity by inviting children to notice different bird calls, tree shapes, or reflections on the ponds. Binoculars can be helpful if you already have them, but the outing does not require special equipment.
What to bring for an October visit
Pack drinking water, comfortable walking shoes, and sun protection. October temperatures can shift during the day, so a light extra layer may be useful for anyone staying until late afternoon. For a picnic, bring food and supplies suited to the group and use the park's designated facilities.
Plan around the 5 p.m. closing time. Floyd Lamb Park stays open until 8 p.m. during April through September, but that later schedule does not apply in October. Arriving earlier gives families time to walk, eat, and explore without rushing back to the car.
If you are considering a future visit, the regular entrance kiosk is cashless and accepts debit or credit cards. The city says visitors who need to use cash may pay at a city community center and bring their receipt. Frequent visitors can also compare the city's listed annual household passes—$50 for those through age 49 and $25 for seniors age 50 and older—with the regular $6 vehicle fee.
A simple West Valley family outing
For a low-key visit, start with a walk near the lakes, pause to watch wildlife, then stop for a picnic or a look at the historic ranch grounds. Families with older children may prefer to investigate the park's cycling amenities or longer paths. The best plan depends on how much time everyone wants to spend outside.
The free-entry day is an admission opportunity, not an announcement of a festival or special entertainment program. Visitors should not expect scheduled activities unless the city separately advertises them.
Before leaving home, check the city's Floyd Lamb Park page for any last-minute changes to hours, entry, or facility access. With the vehicle fee waived on October 30, the park offers a practical way for west-valley families to enjoy the outdoors, explore a piece of Las Vegas history, and make the most of a fall afternoon. |

We took our little one around the lakes last fall and saw so many birds. The shorter paths were plenty for us, honestly.
That sounds like a lovely outing! The lakes and shorter walking paths make it easy to enjoy the park at a little one’s pace.
Does anyone know how much of the ranch you can see on a self-guided visit? My parents would enjoy that more than the longer trails.
The city notes that the historic Tule Springs Ranch area can be explored on a self-guided visit, but we haven’t confirmed which buildings, if any, are open to enter. For your parents, it’s worth calling the park at 702-229-8100 to ask what they can see without taking a longer trail.
I wonder how busy the parking area gets on free-entry days. Saving $6 is nice, but I'd probably go early if we're bringing the kids.
We walked around Tule Springs Ranch last fall and my daughter liked it more than I expected. Glad it's mentioned alongside the lakes.
Leah P.My kids surprised me there too. They wanted to look around the ranch before we even got to the lakes.
The $6 fee is pretty reasonable already, so I wonder how busy the park will get on a free Friday. Might be worth going early.
Free entry on October 30 sounds perfect for a picnic by the lakes. We can bring lunch and let the kids walk around before Halloween weekend.
Free entry on October 30 sounds perfect for a picnic by the lakes. It's nice to have an outing before Halloween that doesn't involve buying anything.
